Welcome To Isobel Lake Fat Bike Trails
Fat biking season is coming soon, and we are looking forward to our best season to date. Thank you to our awesome partners at Rec Sites and Trails BC for allowing us to provide these wonderful, groomed trails. We would also like to thank Peter Mudry from Variable Rentals and Paul Blackett from Kala Geosciences for generously donating their snowmobiles for this season. There is a change this season for our trail access point and parking area. The McQueen/Isobel Forest Service Road will be maintained by Argo Road Maintenance down as far as the large turnaround just above Isobel Lake (Eagle Eye Lookout Trail Parking Area). This is where parking and trail access will be for this season. The start/exit trail that we have used for the past few seasons, lower “Beers a Waiting”, will no longer be part of the network and will not be groomed. The section of Beers a Waiting further up above the first meadow where it connects to Cartel will still be part of the network. Please remember there is no parking anywhere around the School District 73 driveway/bus turnaround area, this area is used 24/7 and must be kept clear of vehicles at all times. There is limited cell service up in the Isobel Lake area, a signal can be found just before the School District 73 gate, a couple sections on Direwolf and at the top of Wobbly Pop. We will post some trail signage in the locations where service is available. Please be prepared for any conditions and ensure you have proper snow tires, this is a winter road. We look forward to seeing you out on the trails.
Annual Suggested Membership for Use of Isobel Lake Winter Fat Bike Trails is $30 per rider.
These funds go directly to the care and maintenance of the fat bike trails by our volunteers, insurance, the sleds and groomer, signage and up keep.
The Isobel Lake Winter Recreational Trails
Situated 20km from downtown Kamloops in the Lac Du Bois Grasslands the Isobel Fat Bike Network consists of 25km of machine groomed single track fat bike trails. Managed through an agreement with Recreation Sites and Trails British Columbia, the Kamloops Mountain Bike Trail Association oversees the winter management of the trail network. Machine groomed by volunteers with two snowmobiles, the season starts at the beginning of December and riding continues to the end of February / beginning of March as weather and conditions permit. Snowshoes are welcome on the groomed trails.
For information on group rides, trail conditions, fat bike best practices and grooming reports, follow the Facebook page.
If you enjoy these trails we need your help to keep them maintained. We suggest a minimum donation of $30/ rider for the season to help fund these trails. Please give generously and we will continue to provide grooming and a great safe winter trail riding experience.
Note : To use Trailforks Maps for Winter Riding you will need to change the settings to “Winter Settings” to access the Fatbike maps.
