HARPER MOUNTAIN BIKE RECREATION SITE AND TRAIL NETWORK
Camping is not permitted within this recreation site
This trail network is closed and not maintained from November 1st to May 1st annually.
Harper Mountain Bike Recreation Site and Trails is a mountain bike optimized trail network designated by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, Recreation Sites and Trails (RSTBC) branch, with a small portion of the trail network existing inside of the BC Parks, Paul Lake Group Site. The KMBTA manages the trail network via a Partnership Agreement with both agencies and a memorandum of understanding with Harper Mountain Ski Area.
This trail network is an iconic riding destination that is world renowned and we are grateful for the opportunity to maintain and manage these trails. In recent years the network has seen several upgrades to the trails and related infrastructure, including two new parking lots and the revitalization of the trail formerly known as ‘Ramblin’ On’. The parking lots, trail enhancements, kiosks and wayfinding were part of the Community Economic Infrastructure Recovery program and funded by the Province. The KMBTA was fortunate to work with Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc to rename the trail ‘Ramblin’ On’, to Cucwéll, the Secwépemc word for "Trail".
ABOUT THE TRAILS:
Located outside the City of Kamloops limits, this trail network is more remote (limited cell reception!) and provides a cooler riding temperature, diverse landscapes and is shuttle accessed. The trails are a mix of fast technical trails and fast flow trails. Truly a trail for every skill level and a great place to beat the heat!
This network has three main access points:
BC Parks Paul Lake Group Site Parking Lot (at the bottom, no cell service)
‘Yellow Gate’ Parking Lot, located halfway up the Harper Mountain road.
The upper shuttle turnaround, located at the top/end of the shuttle access road.
Please note: this road is 4x4 access only and is not maintained.
E-BIKES:
Class 1 E-bikes are permitted. All other e-bikes, including throttle assisted e-bikes are not permitted. Adaptive Mountain Bikes are except provided they are governed to 32km/h.
